Portugal checks all the boxes for me when it comes to the perfect vacation. Great beaches, museums, culture, food and architecture.
2. Mendoza, Argentina
The birth place of Malbec. I'm a wine lover and I'm fortunate enough to live in California with a ton of great wine. I'm dying to go wine tasting outside of California and Mendoza is the perfect spot. Sipping wine and staring at the Andes in the background sounds like a dream.
I usually lean toward warm beach destination for vacation but Patagonia is on my bucket list. It's beautiful and desolate and there is something appealing to me about a location without a mass of people. No distractions, just natural beauty. I’d also like to take in as many glaciers as possible before they melt away.
3. The Seychelles
I like remote locations and The Seychelles fits the bill. Located off the coast of Madagascar, only a few of the islands in the chain are inhabited. The beaches are pristine and there is also rich culture to absorb on the tiny islands.
4. St. Anton, Austria
Located in the Austrian Alps, St. Anton is regarded as one of the premier ski and après-ski spots in the world. The only thing better than a day on the slopes is a good party afterwards. It's also a great place to hike in the summer months.
5. Marrakesh, Morocco
Two words, food and architecture. I also think its eye opening to take in culture so different from my own.
Aruba has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean and a huge nature preserve. Because it is so far south, it is located outside of the hurricane belt that plagues the Gulf Coat, Florida and the northern part of the Caribbean. Aruba also sees more sunny days than most Caribbean islands. An added bonus is Flamingo Beach on Renaissance Island where flamingos roam free.
7. Staniel Cay, Bahamas
Staniel Cay is located near Exuma in the Bahamas. Its charming and quaint and has amazing snorkeling. It's also a great place to stay to visit Big Major Cay also know as pig islands. The only inhabitants here are swimming pigs.
Update: Carly visited Cuba in January, 2017
I've always been interested in visiting Cuba. Cuba is frozen in time and has so much rich culture and amazing people. I've been itching to visit since Stephanie made a trip in August.
8. Buenos Aires, Argentina
Buenos Aires is such a vibrant city. There's great shopping, night life, food and wine. I'd also like to take in a Gaucho show.
I love stunning beaches and remote locations and that is exactly what the Maldives offer. The Maldives has 26 natural atolls offering many options for the perfect beach. I'd also like to visit before sea levels rise and the Maldives disappear.
10. Byron Bay, Australia
I’m not sure why but Australia was never very high on my bucket list. This past year, Byron Bay has quickly jumped into my top 10. Byron Bay has charming bohemian vibes and is foodies paradise. Byron Bay has everything I’m looking for. Beautiful beaches, delicious food and good shopping. Byron Bay is home to one of my favorite labels, Spell & The Gypsy.
